About Velvet Spoon Bakery

My Story

 

During the quiet days of the COVID lockdown, I found comfort and creativity in my kitchen, teaching myself the art of baking one recipe at a time. What began as simple experiments quickly became a passion, as I spent countless hours perfecting techniques, exploring flavors, and sharing my homemade treats with family and friends. Their encouragement—and my growing love for the craft—sparked the idea to turn this newfound skill into something more. Today, what started as a personal escape has blossomed into a small home-grown baking business, built on dedication, curiosity, and the joy of bringing a little sweetness to others.

    All orders begin by emailing me directly at orders@velvet-spoon.com to discuss your future cake. I will respond as quickly as possible, day or night. Once your order is placed, an invoice will be created for your order that can be paid directly. All orders are to be paid in full before the delivery date. Due date will be discussed and included in the invoice. 

    No, I do not. I am a Home Bakery that is run within my home. All orders are delivered, and *free delivery is available within the Greater New Orleans area. *free delivery is based on distance and order size. Any questions regarding delivery please email me directly at orders@velvet-spoon.com

     I’ve delivered cakes as far as Baton Rouge, LA and all the way to Biloxi, MS. Deliveries outside the Greater New Orleans area include an additional fee based on travel distance and time. If you have any questions about delivery, please feel free to email me directly at orders@velvet-spoon.com

     No, I do not. My earliest baking lessons came from my mother, who taught me using her own mother’s handwritten recipes. Today, my cakes are elevated takes on those beloved classics, made with real butter and eggs, along with a blend of all-purpose and cake flour for the perfect texture. 

    I recommend ordering your cake at least 1-2 months in advance to ensure availability. Wedding Cakes 3-4 months. You can always email me directly to inquire about availability at orders@velvet-spoon.com

     No—I run my home bakery entirely on my own with one oven, one mixer, and two hands. I bake every cake, make every delivery, and reply to every email myself. I’m also the person behind every social media post and comment. I’m having so much fun creating beautiful centerpieces for parties and special occasions, and I truly love bringing joy to others through delicious cake!
